Prompt #34 What I believe about art

Art is the expression of a person’s imagination, emotion or creative skill.  There are so many ways to express art.  It can be expressed by dancing, painting, sketching, splashing, burning, sculpting, building, folding, stacking, cutting, photographing or filming.  There are so many ways to express art and there are so many ways to interpret it.  I think that there is no specific way to do art.  Everyone is different and the way people perceive art is different too.

Some people use art to show their creative skill by sketching, painting or coloring landscapes or people realistically.  This is a really beautiful art, artists can sketch or paint things so realistically, that it looks like a photograph.  This kind of art can really show the beauty of landscapes.  Another creative art skill is dancing.  Dancing is very creative and it takes a lot of practice to do things like ballet.  Dancing is art because in dances like ballet, it can tell a story.  Other creative skill is photography, capturing images that might be seen only once in a lifetime or breathtaking and exotic images of places that people may have never seen before.

Some people use art to show their imagination such as by drawing or painting things from their minds.  It doesn’t have to make sense to anyone but himself or herself.  It can even be interpreted in different ways.  This kind of art can be anything.  It can be paint splashed onto a canvas, or paintings like the “The Scream” by Edvard Munch, which is like a distorted picture of a person holding their head with their mouth open as if they were screaming.  It can be abstract, kind of random.  There are no limitations to what should be done in abstract art.

Also, people use art to express their emotions.  It could be sketches with hard ragged lines that represent anger, long fluid lines that represent sadness or something like that.  It can also be a picture that represents an emotion like an abstract painting of a person crying with their body filled with cracks and breaking pieces, like an exploding rock.

Art doesn’t need to be realistic.  It can be anything.  I believe that art is something that expresses a person’s imagination, emotion or creative skill.  I think that anyone can be an artist; you don’t need a special license to become an artist.  Art is something that can be interpreted in many ways.  It can seem like something to one person and then something totally different to another person.  I also think that art is never ugly or bad.  Sometimes some art is seen as ugly or as a really bad piece of work, but to others, it might seem like a work of art.

Prompt #33 What I believe about the meaning of life?

The questions, “What is the meaning of life?” “Why are we here?” “What is our purpose?” are philosophical questions that question the significance of life in general.  For me, I think that there is no actual definition to what is the meaning of life is, except to live the way YOU want to live.  I think that the best way to spend our lives is to do what we want to do.

For me, the meaning of life is to be happy.  I think that we are truly living our lives when we are happy.  If we are not happy, we are miserable, sad, depressed, stressed, angry and anything else that that is the opposite of happiness.  Unhappiness is something everyone doesn’t want in his or her lives.  That is why people shouldn’t do things that make them unhappy.   It can make them have a pessimistic view on life.  When people have pessimistic thoughts, they are clearly not very happy and maybe not enjoying their life.  That’s why people should search for happiness in their lives.  When people are happy, they are more positive and optimistic.

That for me is what I think people should do for their lives.  Trying to find happiness.  If I die having an unhappy life, I think that it was like I wasted my time being alive.  I didn’t use my life wisely and I didn’t get to enjoy it.  I want to die happily like I used my time well and enjoyed it.

There are a lot of things that make me happy things like the movie Frozen, Spongebob, my family and friends and a lot of other things.  I am happy right now, but there are still a lot of things that I want to do.  I want to at least check off a couple of things from my bucket list such as finish college, climb a tree, go to Canada, have a doggy, go to Disney World and feed alligators and crocodiles.  There is so much more I want to do in my life and I hope I get to do most of it.

I believe that there is no actual meaning to “What is the meaning of life?” but I think it means that we must live the way we want to live.  And for me, the way I want to live is to live happy and then die happy.

Prompt #32 What I believe about justice.

Justice is the concept of being just, moral and righteous.  It is the moral principle and law of what is fair.  There are four types of definition of justice:
                          1.     Authority
                          2.     Democracy
                          3.     Tradition

                         4.     Rationality
For me, what I believe about justice will probably not be the same as what it will be when I get older.  Since I am still young and not mature enough to really understand what goes on in the world today, my views on how I see justice will still change.  There are a lot of things that I don’t understand and am still too young to even know, my views are still kind of juvenile.

The main thing that I believe about justice is that we should always hear BOTH sides of a story.  I cannot stress how much this means to me.  Whenever there is a conflict, I think that listening to both stories of the two conflicting sides is the most sensible and the most obvious thing to do to find out who is at fault.  I don’t understand how some people can just choose who is at fault when they only hear only one story, especially if its one with a story that is in favor of them~ the ‘victim.’
I also don’t like it if one side is at an unfair advantage.  I think that when there is a conflict, especially if it involves the court, both sides should be represented on an equal level.  And when there is bias between the conflicting sides and the one that gets to do the ruling.

As for the four types of justice, I honestly don’t understand them.  But for the justice of authority for me, whatever my parents say, goes.  I have to listen to them and obey what they say.  I never have a say in anything since they would most likely not even listen, so I usually don’t even bother objecting or questioning them.
For the second one democracy, I have no idea what that means.  Maybe it is what the government and politicians’ say?  That is something I am really not interested in right now.
For the third one, tradition, I also don’t really understand it.  I think it means that do exactly what had been done before?  Like we think just like how our ancestors would think?  I don’t really like that idea, ideas change over time and I think that is sometimes a good thing.
Lastly, the fourth one, rationality, like I said before, we should always listen to both sides of the story.  That is, I think, the most rational thing to do.

I think that justice is an important principle in protecting people.  My views of what is right and wrong about justice will continually change, as I get older and more knowledgeable about the world.

Prompt #31 What I Believe about truth

I believe that truth is one of the most important virtues that a person has.  Telling the truth is very important since it can either make or break relationships.  It is okay to tell little white lies every once in a while, but one should never conceal serious lies.

The truth hurts sometimes.  But “Honesty is the best policy,” even if it feels more convenient to lie, you might become very accustomed to it and do it more often.  Lying is a very bad habit that is hard to break.  If you lie a lot, eventually all the people that trust you will no longer trust you.  It may be fun and convenient, but then later on, no one will no longer believe you.  Lying like that is like the story “The Boy who cried wolf” every time the shepherd boy, who watched sheep, cried ‘wolf!’ the villagers would all gather to help him only to find out it was only a joke.  And when there really was a wolf, no one believed the boy and the wolf ate the sheep.  The moral of the story is that if you keep lying, nobody will no longer believe you.
Sometimes though, you might want to lie to someone because it might hurt him or her.  This of course, might make you want to lie; since you don’t want to upset them and just want them to be happy.  But eventually, they might find out and they might become even more hurt and embarrassed because they didn’t know until later on.  It is usually better if you tell them the truth now, then later because, to me, I think it is better to know something right away instead of later.  Because if you lied and they find out about the truth later on, it might make the person feel worse since they weren’t told the truth in the first place.

The only time lie is probably okay is if it’s not really serious.  Things like “Be good or Santa will give you coal,” or “The tooth fairy will give you a quarter under your pillow.”  These kinds of lies are innocent and just made for fun.  At first, kids would believe it, then later on they would sooner or later grow out of it.  They know it was an innocent lie, and it was fun believing in it and they too would probably tell it to their kids later on.

I believe that truth is a virtue that people must always uphold.  Telling the truth may hurt, but lying hurts much more.
